Why a CMG?
Pet grooming is an un-regulated industry! It is not, like many believe, a licensed profession similar to the barber/beauty industry. Anyone can open a grooming business and start cutting your pet’s hair! Yikes!
What about your pet’s health and safety, let alone their style? Pet grooming is a trade that is learned from a school, video series or another groomer. At the end of a multi-week program the student is given a certificate. This does not make one a Certified Master Groomer (CMG). At Canine Perfection all of our groomers are Certified Master Groomers or are under intense supervision while actively studying and practicing to become Certified Master Groomers! Is your pet’s groomer a Certified Master Groomer? In America, the pet grooming industry has several respected voluntary certification organizations. The International Professional Groomers Incorporated, which covers cats and dogs, National Dog Groomers Association of America, the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists and the National Cat Groomers Institute of America Incorporated are the most recognized. Each organization offers a series of written and practical examinations. These programs certify that animal care personnel have knowledge of canine and feline behavior, handling techniques, anatomy, bathing, safety and first aid, health, sanitation and treatment of parasites as their core and then progress into style and master skills. It takes several years to gain enough skill to pass certification. Many groomers find that the certification process takes several more years and many failed attempts. It requires a dedicated professional to earn the title of Certified Master Groomer. At Canine Perfection we strive to provide all of our services with compassion and expertise. Being Certified Master Groomers is just one more way that we provide a far superior service! |
